What is Teenshare? Who Cares? Why Care? Our Stories Teenshare Team Becoming a Carer

The Teenshare team - is just that - a team. Caring for young people is about teamwork - we all have an important role that is recognised and supported within Teenshare.

The staff in Teenshare are social workers, and along with 20 dedicated and committed foster carers who make up the rest of the team. Together we are responsible for providing a safe and secure home environment for the young people who come to our service.

Our focus is responding to young people and their care needs and by working together we can make a difference. The staff maintain regular contact with the foster carers, young people and the case worker from the Department for Community Development. The contact can be a home visit, a telephone call or an e-mail. Our aim is always to ensure that the care needs of the young person is acknowledged and that the foster carers are supported in responding to these needs.

Our success for working together is exemplified by the comments and feedback that we receive from the young people who have come into our service - here a just a few examples:-

  • There is no way I could ever pay her(foster carer) back for the loving care and kindness"
  • I really loved being there because I felt as they were my closest friends"
  • There wasn't much wrong - actually nothing wrong - I had lots of fun here"
  • Thank-you for finding these foster carers for me - they are like my second family"
  • Most of the time I spent there was good and they made an effort to care for me"

Our vision is always to provide quality care to young people. We achieve this through the active participation and collaboration of staff with the Teenshare foster carers in working with and responding to the care needs of young people. If you are interested in being part of our team and helping to make a difference then I encourage you to contact us and tell us about your interest.
